Single
Ended Pumps
What are single ended pumps and
when should they be used? Single Ended Pumps operate on one end only as
distinct from Twin Ended Pumps which are designed to pump hot and cold water
simultaneously.
Typically, Single Ended Pumps are
installed in applications where it is required to boost pressure and flow of
hot and/or cold separately from normal domestic tank fed supplies to suitable
terminal appliances/outlets in the house. (See Fig1. below)

The Techflow Solution
Techflow Products manufacture 3 sizes of single ended pumps :-
|
QT45SE |
 |
1.3
BAR |
| QT80SE |
2.3
BAR |
| QT120SE |
3.3

Each has been designed to satisfy
different applications. See examples below:
QT45SE
- Pumping hot or cold water in a
small house or flat where a relatively small increase in supply pressure and
flow is required and any showering requirement does not involve pulse or
champagne handset mode
- Installed between a valve and
shower outlet to pump blended water this pump is ideal for pressurising non
restrictive type shower valves with single function handsets
- Electric Showers - Where the
normal mains cold supply to the household is inadequate to provide sufficient
water pressure to operate an electric shower properly, the problem can be
resolved using a QT45SE to pump cold water from the cold water storage tank
giving the shower a high flow contact pressure supply
QT80SE
- Installed between a shower outlet
to pump blended water this pump is ideal for pressurising non restrictive type
shower valves with single or two function handsets
- Pumping hot or cold water in a
medium size house where a relatively moderate increase in supply pressure and
flow is required and any showering requirement does not include champagne
shower mode
QT120SE
- Installed between a valve and
shower outlet to pump blended water this pump is ideal for pressurising non
restrictive type shower valves with handsets that incorporate functions that
include "pulse and champagne"
- Pumping hot or cold water in a
large house where a significant increase in supply pressure and flow is
required and showering requirements involve pulse or champagne
All three Single Ended Pumps are
available for Negative head applications (See
Data Sheet 1) in fully automatic (AS), MSP or MSA variants. The family of
pumps are all continuously rated, making them ideal when used in the AS mode
for whole house pumping and can be purchased in pairs complete with the AS pump
controllers as a "Whole House Pack".
It is recommended that a Whole House
Pack is purchased if it is required to pump more than 6 terminal appliances.
